Evaluation

Evaluation on the Production of Gone Wrong

My analysis helped me preplan some shot types in production because of the variation of establishing shots, jump shots and fast cutting rate shots showing dialogue. My textual analysis 'Preacher' was more of a comedy and science fiction whereas my project and a few others was a thriller. The film my group created was called 'Gone Wrong' and the end result was as planned, the pre production went down great we followed our initial idea. Filming went smoothly we finished on the first day.

My Role was to be the antagonist who tried to kill the two students and succeeded by killing one but was killed by the other. I also directed most scenes and wrote the story. I also took pictures as a checklist so we know where to go from to get from point a to b however some were missing because one scene was thought up on the spot and this one scene was done in one take and was really good because it kind of set the genre which is thriller.

What was planned was done like the death of the student, this scene was good because we could show more shots like a jump cut and close ups also another scene which was planned, when all characters meet, was good because it had a fast cutting rate which built up tension which then fuelled the film and set a tense atmosphere. It also made it more gripping as well because it gave a little because when there is a fast cutting rate it builds up to something.

So the planning was successful and another thing that was successful of the production was the poster I created because the red mist in the background connotes death and anger. Also the way the are positioned shows friendship and a person who is not normal with a short temper also the way I am faded into the background as part of the mist can connote the antagonists anger," seeing red".
The storyboard helped visualise the short film more and for the poster I used Adobe Photoshop cc 2015 version and I found out how to use it in more depth than I did before, so I honed a skill.

The audience gave it positive feedback and no negative feedback but personally I think we should've filmed one or more establishing shots to set the last scenes but they were still good and went with the soundtrack. If we were allowed to use dialogue I would have preferred to but it was good without it too.
