Prison Break Notes

It starts off with the Protagonist/MC getting a tattoo but they don’t show the tattoo which means it may play a part in what is to come so they keep it very secretive.

Then the MC plans to rob a bank but his intentions are to get caught so he doesn't resist arrest.

He wants to break his brother out because he was set up for the murder of a politician and has a death sentence. During his first day in his cell he sees someone stabbed and watches them bleed in horror, he is not accustomed for this life and it is clear he is doing this out of love for his brother.

Also while he is prison he has flashbacks of when he was getting the tattoos of the prison architecture so he can break his brother out, also shows flashbacks of him planning how to escape. Its is not in chronological order because of the way it has been produced, it shows his past then the future instead of starting from the beginning.
The time and space is during the last month before his brother is to be executed.

It is a TV crime drama because it follows a brother going to prison to commit another felony which is breaking out of prison with his brother. This episode is the first episode of the first season.

During the conversation with Michael and his sister the camera angle changes because of the height difference, when the sister speaks its shows the back of her from a lower angle focusing on Michal vice versa but a higher is used for Michael. During their conversation the cutting increases but no significantly because its show them talking also with the shot it varies from a mid close up for like a profile shot to show the setting;Prison visiting hall, costumes; Prison guards attire and prisoner attires and props are the weapons the guards carry.

When the priest is shot non diegetic sound is used to add a creepy subtle tone to it. A close up is used to show the priest's emotion when he wakes and stares down a barrel and it cuts to a first person shot and you see the bullet fire from gun barrel and you hear the gun fire then it transitions to another scene. The transition is fast paced in line with the action.

A flashforward is used to show a prison is used to maybe show which path Michael might use for the escape. The last shot ends with a bird’s eye view and a cliffhanger, leaving the audience to guess what is coming next.

In this Season the hero is michael because he is trying to save his because he was set up but he is not doing it in a conventional way, he gets sent to prison on purpose,he tattoos the prison map on his body,  he is determined to save his brother’s life. He is also the dispatcher seeing as he knows the truth.

The villain is the government because they are the ones who framed him for murder and are killing the people that could prevent the death penalty i.e. the Priest.

The helper is the tattoo artist who tattooed the prison map onto Michael and the reward for breaking his brother out is his life.
