Textual analysis

The advert starts off with the little girl blowing out her candle, from these props we can infer that it is her birthday and she is spending it with her Mum and Dad. Also at the beginning the natural lighting is very bright and the mood is very cheery. She is surrounded people she knows and loves this changes towards the end because she is surround by the complete opposite.she starts off as such a kindred spirit then she her spirits drop to dull faces.

From the location from one of the screenshots i can tell that it is London by the skyscraper which looks like a tall dome and also you can tell by her accent as well.

At the beginning her appearance is that of a healthy,happy young girl wearing nice looking clothes. When the chaos starts she starts wearing sometimes the same clothes but they have holes and rips in them and her hair starting to fall out, it could be stress related because of the war or it could be radiation poisoning because later in the video she also wears a gas mask to protect herself from something.

The setting starts to get destroyed by the bombings and you can see this and this adds more of a realistic touch because this happens in places like syria and this short film is showing what it would be like here, to raise awareness they made it a british girl because it seems unlikely that it could happen here but people ignore what's happening somewhere else but when it happens to you it's different.

There is also non diegetic sound when places are being bombed and the news reports in the background which sets a serious tone for the short film.

The diegetic sound would be the dialogue from the girl and people around, a piece of dialogue from the girl which is repeated is “where are we?”.
